Noche
Hi Ya’ll!
Well, call us crazy but we went to Noche on opening night! You could tell they had some hosting kinks to work out, because when we went to put our names on the list, the technology app or whatever they were using automatically moved us to the bar instead of a table so when we went back to get seated (it was a 40 minute wait) they couldn’t find our name and then discovered we got moved to the bar area. It’s okay though, some kinks are expected when you first open. Noche took a while to open, I’m guessing they kept getting some bumps in the road, it probably took about a year from when they announced it would be coming to full fruition. The actual restaurant is inside of an old church, so there is a lot of beautiful stained glass, and there were also really cool day of the dead paintings that I loved! Any time I’m at a Mexican restaurant I always have to try their Michelada which is a beer (often modelo or corona) mixed with a specific tomato juice and spices. I discovered the Michelada when I was in Mexico, and have loved it! Noche’s Michelada was disappointing though, because they took out the tomato juice so all it really was was some beer and lime juice and spices. For the price, I would rather just get a mexican lager. Noche offers complimentary chips and salsa, and we of course had to add queso to that. Their chips, salsa, and queso were all very yummy. We also tried their mezcal flight and it was a beautiful arrangement as well as tasty, it included three mezcals, chocolates, strawberries and smoked pinapple. I’m not seeing the other cocktail we tried, but it was like a mezcal old fashioned and I liked it but Josh thought it was too sweet. We split the smoked brisket burrito and added queso, it was good but the brisket was a bit dried out and it was a little hard to eat. We also tried their elote, which is a popular dish in Mexico and I think it could use a little bit of work, it wasn’t as flavorful as I like them to be. We will definitely be back, I’d rate them a 7/10.
